I am ...

One of the first things we learn when we are learning a new language is how to describe ourselves. For example, I might say, "I am Scottish. I am 45" as a very basic way of conveying information about myself to another person whose language I am learning.

The language of the Universe works in a similar way. It responds to the declarations you make and aligns you with that reality.

"I am ..." are two of the most powerful words in the English language. Be very mindful of whatever words you add on to this statement, for this becomes a declaration to the Universe.

I am very careful of whatever words I use here now. Many years ago, I would have no hesitation in declaring myself to be "clumsy" or "rubbish at doing blah blah, blah". Now, I understand the power of these words. These words are aligning yourself, your true self, with whatever follows. If you don't want to align yourself with anything negative, use positive words.

"I am ..." is an affirmation in the truest sense of the word. You are affirming something to be true, or that that situation exists.

Now, the power of affirmations are well-known and accepted as a valuable and important tool in creating the life you want to be living. But it takes practice to undo the habit so many of us have ingrained in talking ourselves down, or of self-deprecating. Louise L. Hay outlined and put into the mainstream the practice of doing affirmations, particularly in front of a mirror. This can feel uncomfortable at first, and even a little silly, but with practice, you align yourself to these words and they become true for you.

So be very choosy about whatever you put after these two little words. For these two small words leave big ripples.
